Google confirms that a URL migration requires exhaustive updating of all internal elements: links, forms, structured data, sitemaps and robots.txt. No shortcuts are acceptable — redirects do not compensate for poorly migrated internal linking. It's heavy technical work but absolutely essential to preserve your rankings.

Why does Google insist so much on updating internal elements?

Google does not rely on 301 redirects to rebuild your internal link architecture. When you migrate URLs, leaving your internal links pointing to old addresses creates a double penalty: loss of crawl budget with each redirect hop, and dilution of internal PageRank.
