Why is a single metric never enough?

A site may show a fast First Contentful Paint (the first visible element appears quickly) but remain completely unusable for several seconds if the Time To Interactive is disastrous. This is the classic trap: the user sees content, but clicking a button does nothing for 4 seconds.

Google emphasizes this holistic view because the Core Web Vitals themselves are already an aggregate (LCP, FID/INP, CLS). But even these three metrics do not capture everything.
