Google asserts that Infinite Scroll absolutely requires paginated links to be crawled and indexed correctly. The History API alone is not sufficient since Googlebot does not simulate user scrolling. How to check if Google is properly crawling my paginated pages?
Start with a URL inspection in Search Console on a paginated page (e.g., page 3). Check that Google can retrieve it, that the expected content is present in the rendered HTML, and that the status is indexable.
Next, look at the crawl statistics in Search Console. If you have 50 paginated pages but Google only crawls 5, that’s an alarm bell. Also, check the server logs to confirm that Googlebot is indeed requesting paginated URLs, not just page 1.
